POLICE VOLUNTEER CADET PROGRAMME & CADET LEADER APPLICATION
Published: 10 April 2026
Cadets partake in various activities within their communities ranging from assisting in crime prevention to supporting public events. You may have seen them at the Eisteddfod in Wrexham, Cilcain Show, Denbigh & Flintshire show or the Llandudno firework display etc. They also support national initiatives by performing test purchases within your communities to prevent the underage sales of alcohol, tobacco and knives.
The cadet program allows young people to gain new and unique experiences, learn new skills to assist them in life’s journey and making new friends.
Throughout, cadets are supported by adult volunteer cadet leaders. Leaders are made up of current serving police, retired police or members of the public who have various experiences and skills.
Since COVID youth organisations have reported a decline in
youth engagement. There are various reports and research which gives
numerous reasons for the decline. NWP cadet numbers have been reasonably
stable, however like other youth organisations, found a decline in applications
compared to pre covid.
As the recruitment window for cadets and cadet leaders is currently open for the September 2026 intake. Please can I request that you share the opportunity with your constituents, whether that be word of mouth, Posters (attached) or the various online platforms.
Details for applicants can be found via the attached posters (Cadets / Cadet leaders). Alternatively, cadet application forms and information can be found via the links below:
