Community Volunteer Awards 2026

Dominic Auty, Hawarden Rangers FC was nominated for his commitment to the “next generation”. Whether this gentleman is mentoring the teams or building the foundations of the club’s future, he embodies the spirit of a “true volunteer”.

Margaret Dingle, Hawarden WI was nominated for always being the first to offer support at fundraising events, she has also assisted regularly with church cleaning and home visits to parishioners during periods of illness. In addition to this community service, she has been a longstanding member of a local choral group.

Susan Jones, Hawarden Photography Group was nominated for her role within the Hawarden Photographic group since 2013. She promotes the joys and benefits of photography to young children and other community members.

Peter Ketland, Deeside Round Table was nominated his focus always being on energy, new ideas and a desire to “make a difference”. Whilst we are honouring this individual he acknowledges that he is a “small cog in a big wheel” of volunteers who continue to help and support the local community.

Tony Hughes, Aston Bowling Club was nominated for his fund raising efforts for Aston Bowling Club as well as continuously applying for grants, most recently a £23,000 grant for food lights.

Jean Ranson, Deeside Community Hospital was nominated for her long serving dedication and support to the Deeside Community Hospital, League of friends, for the past 20 years. You will always receive a lovely welcome smile from her.

Covid-19 Volunteers 2020

The Council wanted to award COVID-19 volunteers who had provided exemplary support during the pandemic. On Thursday 17th September 2020, Councillor George Hardcastle, the Chair of Hawarden Community Council, assisted by the Vice Chair, Councillor Helen Brown and the Clerk and Financial Officer, Sharron Jones, presented three local residents with their awards at their homes during a socially distanced presentation event.

Volunteer Awards 2021
