First World War Commemoration

A Commemoration Service organised by Hawarden and Broughton & Bretton Community Councils led by Rev'd David Lewis the Rector of St Deiniol's Church, Hawarden was held on Sunday 3 August 2014.

The Service was attended by 400 people including representatives of the Royal British Legion, Mark Tami MP, Glenys Diskin Chair of Flintshire County Council, Civic Dignitaries and representatives of Community Organisations and Schools together with Members of the public.

The Service took place at St Deiniol's Church and concluded with a procession to the War Memorial where commemorative wreaths were laid by the Royal British Legion and young people representing the youth of the Community.

Poppies have been planted in five beds in the grass verge in front of Gladstone Playing Fields, each bed commemorating one of the years from 1914 to 1918.
