On Saturday 23 September 2017, Flintshire Record Office, based at the Old Rectory, Hawarden, is taking part in ‘Open Doors’, a Wales-wide event organised by Cadw.

Open Doors offers both local people and visitors alike the chance to explore the hidden treasures of Wales’s culture and history.

The Old Rectory is an 18th century building set within its own grounds, which was home to the Rectors of Hawarden for centuries. For the past 60 years it has housed Flintshire Record Office, which preserves the county's unique archival heritage and makes it available to the public.

The Open Doors event will include an exhibition about historic buildings in Hawarden (including the Old Rectory) ‘then’ and ‘now’. There will be behind-the-scenes tours of the Old Rectory to see the strongrooms, where the County’s historic archives are kept, and a chance to see some of the oldest and rarest items in our collections.

You can visit the Conservation studio to see how precious and sometimes fragile archives are preserved for future generations. There will also be a fascinating guided walk around Hawarden village following an historic buildings trail, led by a knowledgeable member of staff.

Come and see what amazing facts you could find out about your family, house, or local history at Flintshire Record Office!

Dydd Sadwrn 23 Medi 2017, 10am - 4pm

Ddydd Sadwrn 23 Medi 2017, bydd Archifdy Sir y Fflint, sydd wedi’i leoli yn yr Hen Reithordy, Penarlâg, yn cymryd rhan yn y digwyddiad ‘Drysau Agored’, sef digwyddiad Cymru gyfan sy’n cael ei drefnu gan Cadw.

Mae Drysau Agored yn cynnig y cyfle i bobl leol ac ymwelwyr fel ei gilydd archwilio trysorau cudd diwylliant a hanes Cymru.

Adeilad o'r 18G yw'r Hen Reithordy sy'n sefyll o fewn ei diroedd ei hun ac a oedd am ganrifoedd yn gartref i Reithoriaid Penarlâg. Ers 60 mlynedd bellach mae’r Rheithordy wedi bod yn gartref i Swyddfa Gofnodion Sir y Fflint lle diogelir treftadaeth archifol unigryw'r Sir gan sicrhau ei fod ar gael i'r cyhoedd.

Bydd y digwyddiad Drysau Agored yn cynnwys arddangosfa o adeiladau hanesyddol Penarlâg (gan gynnwys yr Hen Reithordy) ddoe a heddiw. Bydd teithiau 'y tu ôl i'r llenni' o amgylch yr Hen Reithordy i weld yr ystafelloedd diogel ble cedwir archifau hanesyddol y Sir a bydd cyfle hefyd i weld rhai o’r eitemau hynaf a phrinnaf yn ein casgliadau.

Gallwch fynd i weld y stiwdio gadwraeth i weld sut y caiff archifau gwerthfawr a bregus eu diogelu ar gyfer cenedlaethau’r dyfodol. Bydd yna hefyd daith gerdded ddiddorol o amgylch Penarlâg heibio adeiladau hanesyddol y pentref o dan arweiniad aelod gwybodus o staff.

Dewch draw i Swyddfa Gofnodion Sir y Fflint i weld pa ffeithiau anhygoel y gallwch chi eu darganfod am eich teulu, eich cartref neu eich ardal leol!

Taith o amgylch y pentref - 11.00am - rhaid archebu lle

Y tu ôl i'r llenni a theithiau cadwraeth - 10.30am, 11.30am ac 12.30pm – rhaid archebu lle
