Councillor Vacancies - Hawarden Ward.
Mrs Cheryl Carver of 8 Overlea Drive, Hawarden and Mrs Danielle Platten of 16 High Park, Hawarden have been co-opted by the Council to fill the vacancies created by the death of Councillor John Powell Edwards and the disqualification of Councillor Julia Royds
- Allotments: The Council is aware of an increasing interest amongst residents for allotment land due partly to a desire to eat healthily and partly to higher food costs,and is endeavouring to establish an Allotment Site in the Community. If you would be interested in tending an allotment plot could you please write to or email the Council to register your interest.
- Councillor Ralph Small has been elected as Chair of Hawarden Community Council for 2010/2011. His
Vice-Chair is Councillor Clive Carver.
- Hawarden Community Council's precept for 2010/2011 has been held at £201,000. The Community Council's element of the total Council Tax bill for an average Band 'D' property will be £33.40, a 0.1% increase.
- Hawarden Community Council's budget for 2010/2011 is £342,699.
- The Council carried out a Community Appraisal exercise in December 2007 to gauge residents' views on its services and those of other Public Bodies. The results of this survey will aid the Council in planning future service delivery.

- The Council has again agreed to contribute to the Hawarden High School Bursary Scheme for students going on to further and higher education.
- As part of an initiative to encourage youngsters to attend the local youth clubs the Council has agreed to continue to sponsor trips for regular attendees.
- A Best Kept Garden competition was held in July 2009. Photographs of the entrants are on the 'Community in Bloom' section of this website.
- Sea View Farm, Ewloe - Planning enforcement appeals have been made with respect to planning enforcement notices issued by Flintshire County Council relating to the formation of an access road using waste materials, and for the deposit of waste on a landfill in excess of the final levels permitted by the existing planning permission. The alleged breaches of planning control referred to in the notices took place during the period 2003 to 2007. The appeal will be decided by an Inspector appointed by the Wales Assembly Government following a Public Inquiry and a site visit. The Inquiry will take place at 10.00am Tuesday 6 July 2010 for 4 days at the Ewloe Social Club, Mold Road, Ewloe, Deeside, Flintshire CH5 3AU.
- Hawarden Community Council has agreed to sponsor the Hawarden Community Walking Group which organises walks in the Community. The walks start from Hawarden Institute every Friday.For further information press the Community Organisations button in the right hand margin.
